Bold Changes
Lessons I Learned From Hanging Peel & Stick Wallpaper
To be completely honest, I am shocked that the wallpaper is still hanging on my wall. After hanging it and taking a step back to take it all in, I almost lost my sh** for real. It wasn’t a little bit of a change; it was a big change, and it was going to take a lot, and I mean a lot a lot, for me to get used to it. I called my best friend, and she had the same reaction. She was kind enough not to say that she hated it, as was I. The fact is, we didn’t hate, but we also didn’t love it either. That’s when I decided to sleep on it, but before I did, I posted this video on Instagram with the caption: I had to share this tonight because it might not be here tomorrow.
Video I posted on Instagram
The next day, I looked at the wall through fresh lenses, and I stared at it all day. So many people had commented suggesting that I just live with it for a while before deciding to take it down, and so I did, and as I lived with it, quite a few things became clear, and here’s what I learned about making dramatic changes:
Bold changes take some getting use to, so be patient. Being uncomfortable is a part of the growth and revision process. Live with the changes a while; adjust, and fight not to go back to what was comfortable.
Draw strength and inspiration from the changes. You had the vision to bring the change to life, so allow it to stretch you.
Allow this new opportunity to give you a new sense of focus and alignment. This change might take you places you hadn’t thought of before or allow you to bring more beautiful things to life.
Taking some risks is a necessary part of the journey. You have to be bold to create something beautiful, to learn more about yourself, your style, and your character.
Bold changes and decisions require courage, and show you that the more you step up to new opportunities, the freer you become and more accepting you become to change.
All that I can say is that I am glad I posted the video because doing so allowed me to see exactly what it means to live a Revised Life. It means that while I’m okay making changes, I won’t always love the changes that I make. It also means that I have to recognize and accept that even if I want the change, it can still be scary or cause me to feel anxious, and this is when I need to trust myself and remember that Progress Happens in the Process. When I do this, everything will all come together. And guess what y’all, it did.
Let me know if these lessons inspired you, and I will share more. Until next time, let’s keep Revising!
