Jamaica Me Ready

Getting ready for Jamaica with Target

Even though there are affiliate links included, all ideas and opinions are my own.

When it became real that I was going to be experiencing my first international trip, and really what appears to be my first real vacation, I knew that I had to head to Target to get everything that I am going to need. I have been a Target shopper for 25 years now, and I knew they would help me get ready for very first out of country journey, so with that, I made my list and made my run.

My list:

Swimsuit

Sunglasses

Packable Hat

Sunscreen

Luggage

First and foremost, I knew I needed to stay focused, so my list came in handy. I had several items to check off of my list, and as soon as I walked in, I saw the perfect swimsuit for me. I had dreamed about this particular swimsuit, and I was thrilled to find it at Target for under $40.

You can’t tell, but this one piece is a cut-out swimsuit. It covers the parts that I want to remain unseen, and it accentuates the parts I want to reveal, and I love it. After finding my swimsuit, I moved on to accessories: hat, sunglasses, and bags.

The last thing I want to worry about in Jamaica is my hair, so hats, scarves, and headbands are going to be necessities for me. This is not going to be a problem for me because I love hats. Luckily, I found this packable hat that is going with me everywhere. I also saw some of the cutest sunglasses, which also made me happy because I lose my sunglasses too much for me to commit to buying an expensive designer pair, and these while affordable, are still very cute.

The most important item on my list was the luggage. It has been years since I have had a reliable piece of luggage. I mean, it’s not like I am catching flights on a regular, right? While, I would love a whole set of luggage, I really just need a nice carry-on piece, and y’all know how I am, I also need it to look good and be priced to sell. Again, I was in luck because I found the perfect carry on in one of my favorite colors this year: olive green. I chose the Hardside Carry On because it looked durable and was budget friendly. I plan to add the two larger pieces later, but for now this one piece will work just fine. At least that’s what I keep telling myself.

After securing my luggage selection, I headed to explore the health and beauty items to grab some sunscreen. At 47, sunscreen is a must, and I have to admit that I have been lazy when it has come to regularly applying it to my mature skin, and since I am a Black girl, I am going to try this Black Girl Sunscreen.

I also wanted to locate a nice lip color that will withstand mask wearing. If there is one thing that I have missed, it’s not being able to wear lipstick because of the mask. But for Jamaica, I’m looking for one that will stay put! I decided to try the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink that I saw Melissa Garcia (Melissa Garcia Styling) wearing in one of the style sessions, and I loved it on her.

I think I’ll get red!

I think I’ll get red!

Being able to check items off my list made it easy for me to prepare for Jamaica, and that’s a good thing because I having one less thing to think about made me feel more at ease.

I know that for many people, traveling is not a big deal, but for me the ultimate homebody, it most definitely is. I am glad that I have a place like Target that makes STYLING my life easier, and now that I have picked up some of my essentials, now the fun part, choosing which outfits to take. Y’all, I can’t wait!

I also can’t wait to share my Jamaica experience with y’all. Until then, tell me about your first Passport Stamp! I’d love to compare notes when I return.

Warmly,
